Remember the Yellowstone National Park 1988 forest fires? Devastating fires that engulfed 36% of the park (793,880 acres). These fires are responsible for the largest wildfire in the recorded history of Yellowstone National Park. What started out as several small fires (roughly 250 fires) ended up as a conflagration burning for several months with 7 of the 250 fires causing the most damage.

How is this significant to a hotel built in 2002? The Moose Creek Lodge and Suites is constructed from logs cleared from this devastating fire. The National Forest lost many acres to the fires and in these areas loggers were allowed to go in and harvest logs to clean up the forest floor and allow the new vegetation to flourish. All of the log construction you will see at this unique property were logs harvested from these areas.

The Moose Creek Lodge and Suites is reminiscent of the Yellowstone Lodges found in Yellowstone National Park.
